Spring support for the Immune System

Drinking herbal tea is more than just enjoying a delicious non- caffeinated, non- sugary beverage, it is a way to deliver healthy nutrients to our bodies.  We can mix herbs with healing properties with not much flavor for the palate, with herbs that have lovely fun flavors to make a nice herbal tea blend.

Spring is arriving in NJ, the allergy season is not far behind, itchy watery eyes, scratchy throat, runny nose, cough and all around feeling of lousy. It is time to start building the immune system!  The first herb that I think of when I think of Spring Immune System Support is Linden.

The Linden tree is known as the Tilia Tree and it grown all over Europe and North America. These large trees produce flowers known as lime flowers,these flowers are filled with nutrients to help the body. Linden is know to stimulate the immune system with phyto- chemistry, along with mineral and vitamins. Linden has long beenLinden flowers

used since the time of folks medicines and remedies for centuries.

The flowers are used to make herbal tea to help treat anxiety and it’s soothing effects on the body, treat Cold and Flu symptoms, support the immune system and to calm gallbladder and digestive issues. Linden also naturally aids in sleeping issues by calming the nerves.

Furthermore, drinking this tea can help reduce fevers, which is also useful during times of sickness as well.

Spring Immune Tea

½ Teaspoon Linden Flowers, dried

½ Teaspoon Nettles, dried

½ Teaspoon Mint, dried

1 Teaspoon Lemon Balm, dried

Mix together, place in a large muslin reusable tea bag,place in 32 ounces of boiling water. Turn the heat off and let steep for 5 minutes. Drink as a beverage all day long.
